Summary
This program is aimed at providing comprehensive education focused on procedures for assisting the physician and nurse with patient/client care. Instruction includes an introduction to medical assisting, certification requirements, and orientation to the laboratory; it progresses through theory and techniques utilized by the medical assistant. Coursework includes two terms of intensive classroom and laboratory instruction, and one term of externship experience. Content includes anatomy and physiology, applied mathematics, infection control, aseptic technique, pharmacology, office procedures, patient/client assessment and education, nutrition, inventory, and equipment maintenance. At program completion, graduates are awarded a Certificate of Completion.
Prerequisites:

Must be at least 18 years of age

Submission of transcripts to verify high school diploma or equivalency completion

Pass background screening (for state licensing)

Complete a physical examination & 2-step TB screening prior to class start.

Pass entrance exam

Open availability for classroom and clinical training.
